What does quality build mean?

I am interested that in your piece in last week's Chronicle, p14 Steve Feneley, Regional Managing Director of Bloor Homes North West, states that he intends to maintain his firm's emphasis on quality build and location.

I take issue with both these intentions for varying reasons.

What does he mean exactly by quality build? I would hope that it would include state of the art insulation, rain water catchment and renewable energy such as solar panels.

Regarding quality location, does this mean building on green fields and belt at the expense of brown fields?

Is quality location as far from amenities such as shops as possible so that car use is inevitable for virtually all journeys?

Bloor Holmes along with other developers need to understand the changing nature of expectations and plan their developments accordingly.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Peter Hirst
