What a Carry On at Cheshire East
Dear Sir,
With regard to this seasonal part of the year, giving most of us an opportunity to relax, refl ect and rejuvenate I would like to compare the saga of Cheshire East Council as recorded in your paper with the Carry On series that entertained me so much during my youth.
The title would be Carry On Regardless and I don't need for most of your readers to give names to the main characters in this fi ctional comedy.
The reason it is funny if it was not so serious, is found when you take an overview of the activities of the council for instance as shown in last week's Chronicle.
It is true that Cheshire East, like all councils, performs many excellent roles and we should applaud it for them.
It is also true that in politics it is not so much where you err but how you respond to that erring that counts.
It is the not showing that you are aware of the effect your actions are having on your important audiences that makes this such an excellent addition to the above series.
A happy new year.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
