We should be able to pay it forward
Dear Sir,
I was interested to read your article in last week's Chronicle about the new system for paying for parking that is being rolled out across Cheshire East.
It included registering your vehicle's registration number, helping to prevent passing on your ticket.
While respecting the right to impose conditions on parking at these Cheshire East owned sites, it does seem to be rather obtrusive.
Passing on the unused portion of your ticket allows you to engage in a random act of kindness and foster a sense of community with people who share your passion for visiting these sites such as Brereton Heath Country Park.
It, of course, also prevents the company from benefi ting from these payments that would otherwise be necessary for parking.
To me, the modest funds that it loses are more than compensated for by the good will that accompanies these transfers that are in the traditional custom of sharing and giving, especially at this time of the year.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
Middlewich.
