Voting Lib Dem will send message
Dear Sir,
I welcome Heather Seddon's letter in this week's Chronicle detailing the increasing use of food banks and poverty in the UK over recent years.
It is challenging, however, to see how having Labour in power nationally would serve these people any better than the present Conservative government.
It is generally accepted that leaving the EU, whatever the terms, would cause our income as a nation to decrease, at least temporarily.
It is to the shame of the Labour Party that its leader still advocates leaving our largest trade area,
ostensibly because of the result of the discredited referendum result of 2016.
Until it comes out unreservedly against departing from the EU without a further confi rmatory people's vote, the people Heather refers to will have little to persuade them that a change of government will help them materially.
Only a vote for the Liberal Democrats in our local elections in May will show both parties that they will have to do much better to win the support of the just about managing.
Yours faithfully,
DR PETER HIRST
Chairman, Congleton Constituency
Liberal Democrats.
