Section 106 Money and Health Services

Dear Sir,

Regarding the lack of S106 money for health services in Congleton from a sizeable development off Manchester Road referred to in last week's Chronicle, there seems to be a fair amount of blame shifting going on.

Of course, NHS England is not going to put together an infrastructure plan for improvements when consulted about an imminent request.

What is needed is an up to date, costed development plan for the surgeries so that it can be used when such developments reach the relevant stage.

Waiting for such a planning application before requesting information that can then be used to agree a S106 with the developers is countenancing a negative response.

If the planning department cannot get its act together and act pro-actively regarding this and other infrastructure consequences of development, it is time someone found out why.

It seems Cheshire East planning departments needs someone who's role it is to determine future requirements and feeding them into the planning process at the appropriate time.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Peter Hirst
