Remember what’s gone on before
Dear Sir,
It is becoming apparent that the Conservative councillors on Cheshire East Council are now devoting their energy and resources to producing Press releases detailing all the good work that the council is doing in many areas.
Though I do not want to deprecate this activity, I do not remember similar activity throughout the electoral cycle.
I would like to remind the electorate that since the formation of unitary authorities, we have all out elections every four years.
It is possible for the Opposition and other organisations such as Private Eye to highlight the inadequacies of the council for three and a half years and then have this neutralised by a few months vigorous campaigning.
I am sure that the voting public of the constituency will search their memory banks and use the hard work done by the above over the previous four years to detail the weaknesses of the ruling group.
Whatever result is obtained will determine the composition of all the councils in the borough for the next four years.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
Chairman,
Congleton Constituency Liberal Democrats
