Railway is clear answer
I note that parking in Gadbrook Park is becoming an issue, P7 of 26th October issue.
The easiest and most obvious way to tackle this is to reopen the Crewe to Northwich railway line and institute a stop there.
This is the most recent addition to the already overwhelming case for this line to be open to regular passenger transport.
Pehaps Chester and Cheshire West Council will now see that it is in their interests to invest in this line.
Though trains will be run by Arriva Trains, it is the local transport authorities who will put in most of the necessary funds.
Network Rail will probably fall into line once the momentum becomes unstoppable.
Meanwhile, it is interesting that both Philip Griffiths, Guardian Letters, and myself start from the same place, namely what is in the best long-term interests of the country.
Where we differ, is the path to take to get there.
True, the referendum result showed a clear result though that leaves a sizeable number dissatisfied with the outcome.
The early verdict seems to be so far so good though there is still a long way to go.
It is not true however to state that the decision to leave the eu is irreversible.
There must be circumstances where the wisest thing to do is admit we have made a mistake and to try again.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Peter Hirst
