Post-EU trade is far from certain

Dear Sir,

RS Norbury, p34 in last week's Chronicle, is entitled to his views, as is everybody else.

It is when he starts speaking on behalf of others as he did when he stated, "It is about time that they started acting for the good of the country", when referring to those who voted to remain in the EU that his views cannot go unchallenged.

What is in the best interests of this country is far from clear in this fast-moving and serious saga that is Brexit.

It would help everyone if we all became slightly less certain about the effects of leaving, at least in the long term.

Those who don't could be accused of an ideological bent that obscures their vision, assuming they are in the least bit interested in the outcome of these negotiations.

I am prepared to accept that leaving the EU might improve our international trade relations because of the extra flexibility that it gives us, although there is a great deal of uncertainty in that as in many other areas.
