Not a specialist in road matters either
Dear Sir,
There have been major problems with railway timetabling, in particular on some G.T.R. and Northern routes, which the Transport Secretary has himself stated means that passengers on these franchises are facing totally unsatisfactory levels of service.
The Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling, when asked by committee chair, Lilian Greenwood, whether he was accountable for the timetabling "fiasco", he admitted that he was not, " a specialist in rail matters".
To make matters worse, it seems Mr Grayling is not a specialist in road matters either.
Road haulage firms have accused Chris Grayling of failing to put in place any credible contingency plans for a "no deal" Brexit scenario, as well as, "knowing nothing" about their industry.
Speaking to the Telegraph, hardly an anti-Government newspaper, road haulage industry leaders said they were left astonished in recent meetings with Mr Grayling where he appeared to be unaware that British lorry drivers would not be able to carry goods on the continent if the U.K. crashes out of the bloc.
So how much talent does a Conservative cabinet minister need ? Based on the talents of "Failing Grayling" - clearly not much.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Douglas,
