New home built without thought
Dear Sir,
I'm amazed that in your report on the meeting of Cheshire East Strategic Planning Board, on p5 of last week's Chronicle on the amended Local Plan, there is no mention of associated infrastructure improvements.
How can the members decide on the merits of increasing housing often substantially without some discussion of the changes to roads, schools and public transport that it will fund?
It is like discussing the possibility of going to war without knowing the implications of doing or not doing so.
It is clear to me that this is nothing short of railroading sufficient houses into the Borough to meet targets without any discussion of the implications.
The councillors should demand to be told the likely accompanying infrastructure changes so that a balanced debate can take place.
It really is time that someone took the planning process by the horns and made it fit for the 21st century.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Peter Hirst
