Most stupid error since Suez crisis
Dear Sir,
It's all very well for Robert Davies, (p32 in last week's Chronicle) to say all we have to do is remain savvy, I presume in relation to the results of a no-deal Brexit that the Conservative administration is trying to impose on us.
He does not mention those who, for various reasons, are only just coping at the present time to provide a wholesome diet for their families.
It is they and others such as pensioners, farmers, small business owners who export to the EU, and those who have come to this island over many years from the continent that we should be concerned about.
This is all because of a misguided loyalty to a faulty referendum that did not respect the lack of knowledge of the implications of leaving the EU.
This desire to leave on the 31st October come what may is one of the most stupid intentions in British foreign policy - certainly since the Suez crisis, which made my father change his newspaper reading.
Let's hope that sense prevails and that the remainers can forge a path that at least allows the above and others to reconsider their original decision before too much harm is done to our society.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
Middlewich.
