Most people now favour remaining
Dear Sir,
With respect to Connor Brady's recent letter in the Chronicle, both Labour and the Conservatives, with last week's Queen's Speech, are attempting to move on from the Brexit debate.
They know that their respective stances are losing public support and that most people are now in favour of remaining in the European Union.
Their misplaced loyalty to the "vote of the people" that Labour has only just managed to dislodge from its focus has resulted in over three years of uncertainty, paralysis of government and loss of good will from those both within and outside our shores.
We need as a nation to decide what we want regarding our relationship with our closest neighbours that will determine how much we can afford to spend on the proposed policies of both Parties.
It is the duty of our representatives to rise above our daily concerns and provide the springboard that will allow us to enjoy the prosperity and enjoyment of life that we all deserve.
Only the Liberal Democrats understand that we must vote on this pivotal issue before turning our attention to these other essential topics.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
Chair,
Congleton Constituency
Liberal Democrats.
