Informed consent and technology use

Dear Sir,

The long letter by Andrea Bloomfield on the possible dangers of 5G roll out made me think of the way society is going more generally.

We seem to be relying more and more on technology to solve our problems and improve our quality of life.

This is fi ne as long as we have given our informed consent; something that I am not aware we have. The fact that we can do something does not mean we want to.

The dangers of modern technology such as nuclear power, mass transit systems and mass-produced food are something we increasingly accept without much thought.

There will come a time when we nationally and globally are utterly dependent on these and other achievements, if we have not already passed it.

What is needed is a more informed, impartial and reasoned discussion through the media of these issues and whether there is room for those who prefer a simpler, more natural and safer society.
