Ignorance of Green Paper is shocking
Dear Sir,
I was shocked to see the excellent Andrew Neil on last Wednesday's B.B.C. Politics Show having to educate the Foreign Minister, Harriet Baldwin, on the difference between a Government Green Paper and a Government White Paper.
Even when I was a teenager, I knew that a Government Green Paper is a consultative document whereas a Government White Paper outlines Government policy intended to be turned into legislation.
Given a minister in this Government does not even know this, the most basic of information about Governmental legislative procedures, what hope do we have in thinking that the Government might be capable of running the country ? Clearly, not much.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Douglas,
Congleton
