Give more warning before work starts
Dear Sir,
I write concerning the current road closures on Swan Bank, Antrobus Street and Mill Street due to replacing gas mains.
While appreciating this needs to be done and there is never a good time, more could and should have been done to reduce the inconvenience.
Perhaps Congleton could learn a lesson from Homes Chapel's Neighbourhood Plan referendum.
Banners have been placed in prominent places around the village informing of the event and regularly replaced in a countdown manner.
With something of such significance to visitors and residents alike almost as much effort should be made into warning those likely to be affected as the closure itself.
Of course, this would mean some liaison between different agents working to a prolonged schedule, something that Cheshire East seems to find challenging.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Peter Hirst
