Flexible method of transport needed
Dear Sir,
I write concerning your "Open Debate" article in last week's Chronicle, about improving our bus network.
One of the issues is that Cheshire East does not run buses, though it can subsidise non-commercial routes.
Seeing buses with hardly anyone on them is a common sight and must partly explain the lack of support for them.
For people without cars or unable to drive to get about the borough, there should be a more flexible method of transporting them.
To start with, the borough should develop a list of registered potential users of public transport with details of each's requirements.
In this way, demand can be generated, cars taken off our roads and a system created, in response to this information that enhances the quality of life of all concerned.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
Middlewich.
