Environmental features in homes

Dear Sir,

Concerning your article and accompanying letters on the proposed development off Waggs Road in last week's Chronicle, one thing is not discussed.

This is the need for new houses and estates to incorporate the latest in environmental features to help counter climate change and improve biodiversity.

These include standard roof solar panels, facilities for collecting rainwater, electric car charging points and state of the art insulation of all exterior interfaces.

They should be included, independent of whether the property is for sale at full market price or so called affordable home status.

Developers such as Gladman Homes should also consider building some homes on their estates as semi-detached or terraced as these reduce heating costs considerably.

The cost of running a home is as or more important than the purchase price when considering it to be affordable.

Yours faithfully,

(DR) PETER HIRST

Middlewich.
