Dangers will rise on Padgbury Lane
Dear Sir,
One of the implications of the approval of the Padbury Lane site for residential development, as discussed recently in The Chronicle is the issue of the increased traffic using the Padgbury Lane, A34 junction.
As someone who uses this junction regularly, I can only agree that the increase in traffic on Padgbury Lane that this development will cause will make a dangerous situation even worse.
When turning right onto the A34 from Padgbury Lane you place your life in your hands at the best of times.
The speed of the traffic on the A34, the visibility and the contours of the roads all lead to this being an unacceptable risk.
With traffic queuing to exit the east side of the Lane, the pressure to take unacceptable risks will only increase unless quite radical changes are made to this junction.
Cheshire East seem to have missed an opportunity when opposing this development, knowing that it would be won on appeal of winning funding from it to substantially modify this dangerous junction.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Peter Hirst
