Confidence and stability essential
Dear Sir,
Mr Corbett in last week's Chronicle, P39 articulates a positive view of leaving the EU that contains his opinions clouded by the sort of country he wants to live in.
Where we part is that he seems to give undue emphasis to us making our own laws and controlling immigration.
What he does not seem to understand is that for a trading nation like ourselves, it is essential for there to be stability, peace and confidence.
I fear that without us in the EU, it will be a weaker proponent of those very values that enhance this trade, especially to far flung countries around the world.
Where he got the idea that either my Party or I have given up on the idea of a confirmatory exit referendum, once the precise terms are known I have no idea.
We still believe and it is supported by our ever-growing membership that the British people should have a final say in this important decision.
- Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
