Behave responsibly in general election

Dear Sir,

To those of your readers who are still undecided about voting, I would say that it is not often we can see so clearly the motivations behind at least one of the main party's strategy in the hope that it might infl uence their vote.

David Cameron decided to call a referendum in 2016 to thwart the ambitions of his rivals on the right, UKIP thinking that it would clear the air.

Once the result was known, the Conservative Party has used its resources to carry out that "instruction", knowing that doing anything else would amount to political suicide.

So, we have had three years of so called pursuing the will of the people when in fact it has been retaining the Conservative Party as a political force.

This is regardless of the rights or wrong of either the result or leaving or remaining in the EU.

Labour has behaved similarly with neither party being remotely interested in the long-term interests of the inhabitants of these islands.

When all the evidence points to an economic, social and political disaster, it behoves those readers to behave responsibly in this election.

Yours faithfully,

(DR) PETER HIRST

Middlewich.
