Agreeing with two statements in story
Dear Sir,
Deborah Darnes makes two statements in your article on Cheshire East supporting the International Holocaust Relast week's Chronicle with which I agree.
The first is that all actions (based on a person's religion) should be treated equally, irrespective of the religion.
The right to practise and believe in a religion is a fundamental universal human right and needs protecting.
The second is that it is wrong for definitions of crimes against a person because of their religion to be used to prevent criticism of a country's actions.
These actions should be based on their intentions and results, treating all people as equally worthy of protection from crimes, irrespective of either party's religion or beliefs.
No country should be allowed to hide behind its religion or customs to allow acts that would otherwise be illegal according to international law.
Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
Middlewich.
