A divine excuse to relocate council tip
Dear Sir,
I'm amused that you report a fire at Congleton tip in this week's Chronicle.
You do not mention the cause, although one readily occurs to me.
I know it is not used as much as previously, with the onset of household recycling, though it still provides, as do the others in the borough, a valuable location for those unwanted waste and recycling issues that are for some reason not solvable by the above.
However, its location is horrendous, with atrocious access; its position makes its low use a selffulfi lling prophecy.
Particularly with the Arclid site closed, please can Cheshire East fi nd a more suitable site for it, more suitable for the many on the fringes of the town and further afi eld.
Perhaps the fi re is some sort of divine intervention, informing the council that the present spot is unviable and should be closed so that an improved one in terms of position, facilities and access can be located. - Yours faithfully,
(DR) PETER HIRST
