Dear Sir,

On 20th October 2016 Mr Davis told the House of Commons: "We currently have in place an assessment of 51 sectors of the economy."

On 14th December 2016 Mr Davis told the Brexit Committee: "We are in the midst of carrying out about 57 sets of analyses, each of which has implications for individual parts of 85% of the economy."

On 2nd February 2017 Mr Davis told the House of Commons: "We continue to analyse the impact of our exit across the breadth of the UK economy, covering more than 50 sectors...to shape our negotiating position."

On 25th June Mr Davis, on BBC's Andrew Marr Show, stated: "In my job I don't think out loud and I don't make guesses. I try and make decisions. You make those based on data."

On 25th October Mr Davis told the Brexit Committee: "They (being the impact assessments) are in excruciating detail."

On 30th October Mr Davis wrote to a House of Lords Committee: "We are conducting a broad range of analysis at the macroeconomic and sectoral level to understand the impact of leaving the EU on all aspects of the UK, including the agricultural sector."

Brexit secretary should be sacked

Dear Sir, - On 6th December, the Daily Mirror had an excellent article in respect of David Davis, the secretary of state for exiting the European Union and his comments on the impact assessments regarding the UK's withdrawal from the EU.

On 5th December, Mr Davis stated to the Brexit Committee: "There's no systematic impact assessment I'm aware of... The usefulness of such a detailed impact assessment is near zero."

Yet this statement is contrary to seven previous statements detailed by the Daily Mirror that were made by Mr Davis which I will briefl y summarise.

On 5th September 2016 Mr Davis told the House of Commons: "We are building a detailed understanding of how

On the evening of 20th December, our prime minister sacked Damien Green, the fi rst secretary of state who was in effect our deputy prime minister, for making two statements that were inaccurate and misleading.

Can someone please explain to me why is our prime minister not being consistent by not sacking Mr Davis for making statements that were both inaccurate and misleading?

Yours faithfully,

ROBERT DOUGLAS
